| WHAT IS IT?
The Bethel Bible Series is a 45 year old, proven Bible Study Program from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America now used in many denominations. The Program shows how the Old Testament (Jesus’ only Bible) is equal in importance to the New and gives the student a full appreciation of who Our Saviour really is. About 200 pages of formal notes from the Adult Education Foundation, Madison WI are provided as the course proceeds. Supplementary notes by the Course Coordinator are also provided.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The Series thus provides the serious student with a profound Biblical sense of who Jesus was, who He is now and how we will eventually see Him. (In the quote below it is important to realise that in the context, the Scriptures Jesus refers to are the Old Testament)
“But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me!” John 5:39b - The Message WHERE IS IT?

TIME COMMITMENT
The course involves about 65 sessions over two years. The Old and New Testaments are covered in the first and second year, respectively. MUC will accept direct entries into the New Testament with the understanding that such students will make an effort to complete the Old Testament later.
WHEN IS IT?
At the moment classes are scheduled as follows:
New Testament 12:30 -2:30pm Mondays starting 24 September.
Old Testament 7:00 to 8:30pm Mondays starting 24 September.
NOTE:If the above times do not suit you, please let Bert know days and times when you could attend (contact info above.)It might be possible to provide the course at other times.
HOW IS THE COURSE DELIVERED?
Students wishing to graduate as congregational level teachers, can opt for tests and assignments requiring 3-6 hours per week outside class time - depending on personal background. Students can also participate at the audit level. The audit level requires no out-of–class work. Teacher level students can move to audit level at any time.
The ambience of the class is informal and conversational. This relaxed nature does not preclude obtaining a serious grasp of the structure and message of the Bible.
HOW HARD IS THE TEACHER LEVEL?
This level does require out-of-class-time. But unlike physics or calculus, which can demand a certain kind of intellectual profile, this level is do-ableby any high school student prepared to invest the time and effort. Despite the impression some people have, God intended the Bible to be read and understood by normal people prepared to make some effort.
COST
All Levels - $30 per person/per year;
$60 is the total cost for two years.
PRE-COURSE ORIENTATION SESSION
Before the course starts a brief orientation session will be held on request to Bert. Attendees will be shown the course material and enough tests and assignments to get an idea of what commitment is required.
